File sharing

Don't do it.

USF takes the United States copyright law very seriously. Failure to do so can result in fines, criminal prosecution, or even jail sentences for involved persons. For the protection of the University and our students, USF prohibits illegal duplication, downloading of programs, and/or altering of software and its related documentation. The use of file-sharing programs is discouraged and severely limited in Residence Halls. Usage of such programs or excessive usage of bandwidth for any reason may result in your network connection being disabled.

When you are suddenly unable to access the Internet, it could be because your port was disabled by UTS. Ports will be disconnected if suspicious activity (indicating a virus or file sharing application) is detected originating from your machine. To remedy this situation, contact the Help Desk describing the problem, your name, phone number and when you can best be reached.
